Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC)
A two-year, comprehensive post-secondary institution located in the mountains of western North Carolina. The college serves both Transylvania and Henderson counties. The school’s annual enrollment exceeds 6,807 students. BRCC offers more than 100 programs of study resulting in awards of associates degrees, diplomas, and certificates. BRCC maintains an extensive lineup of technical programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in automotive technology, engineering technology, machining technology, and many other career fields. The school was chartered in 1969 and is one of 58 public institutions within the North Carolina Community College System.
NCWorks Customized Training: Provides education, training and support services for new and expanding business and industry in North Carolina. This tool utilizes a network of 58 community colleges, serving all 100 counties of the state. The goal of the program is to foster and support three key aspects of your company’s well-being: job growth, technology investment, productivity enhancement.
A private liberal arts college located in downtown Brevard, NC. Brevard College is committed to an experiential liberal arts education that encourages personal growth and inspires artistic, intellectual, and social action. Current enrollment at the college totals more than 729 students, a record breaking student population. The school maintains an average class size of 15, and a faculty-to-student ratio of 11:1.
TCS is among the leading public school systems in the state. The school system currently serves a total student population of more than 3,600 students. TCS embraces quality education that includes a faculty and staff of highly trained and talented educators committed to high performance education outcomes. The systems curriculum focuses on science, math, engineering and fine arts instruction with ample opportunities for extracurricular learning that includes music, art, dance, and theater.
Includes a total enrollment of approximately 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Enrollment is representative of 48 states, 35 countries. Academic programs span more than 110 undergraduate specialties and 30 graduate programs-including highly ranked entrepreneurship, project management and engineering disciplines. The University’s main campus is located in Cullowhee, NC approximately 50 miles from Brevard. To serve the region’s growing professional workforce WCU opened a branch campus located within 30 minutes of Brevard. The Biltmore Park campus offers engineering, masters of business administration, and a variety of other undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
WCU Center for Rapid Product Realization: A university-based product development center that helps clients refine existing products, develop new ones and improve business practices. Industry experienced faculty and staff work with business partners to address their specific needs and to remove obstacles to product commercialization and process improvement.
Transylvania County has excellent access to the region’s established transportation network including I-26, I-40 and I-85. The community is an ideal business destination along the east coast. Locally Transylvania County benefits from a strong network of roadways which include NC Highway 280, and US-64 allowing for direct access to major East-West and North-South transportation points.
Highway 280 is Transylvania County’s main transportation artery which connects the community to the surrounding interstate system. Highway 280 is a four lane partially divided highway which spans from I-26 to Transylvania County connecting the City of Asheville, unincorporated Pisgah Forest and City of Brevard. The NC Highway 280 connection provides quick trucking access across the county, alleviating local traffic concerns.
