Small Business Administration: Since its founding on July 30, 1953, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has delivered millions of loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions and other forms of assistance to small businesses. The SBA offers several loan opportunities specifically designed for small businesses which include the 7(a), Microloan Program, Real Estate & Equipment Loans, CDC/504. Mountain BizWorks: For 25 years, Mountain BizWorks has been providing small business loans to help businesses in Western North Carolina launch and expand. Loans provided through this organization range from $1,000 to $150,000, and we focus on entrepreneurs who have trouble securing funding from banks and other traditional sources. Mountain BizWorks emphasizes cash flow analysis, consider non-traditional collateral, and offer flexibility in the loan structure. The organization also works to ensure clients’ success by offering highly customized, peer-to-peer business coaching by an extensive network of local, successful business owners. This innovative blend of lending and learning helps entrepreneurs overcome obstacles, grow strategically, and create jobs.

North Carolina Rural Center: The Rural Center provides business capital to businesses operating in rural marketing in North Carolina who may not qualify for traditional loans or financing mechanisms. The Rural Center operates the NC Small Business Credit Initiative and a Microenterprise Loan Fund.

Traditional Lending Institutions: Transylvania County is fortunate to have a strong network of banks and lending institutions who provide a full range of banking products and services that are specifically designed to help businesses meet their financial needs.
